GAME OF TWO HALFS

Away : League game away to Kilwinning Ladies.

We travelled to Kilwinning on what was a lovely but very warm day for football looking forward to getting on the park and applying some of the things we have been working on at training into our game.

Unfortunately for us we were bossed around the pitch yet again, we were finding it hard to win the ball and when we had the ball found it even harder to hold on to.   

In the first half we have to all hold our hands up and it was clear to see PSGFC were second to every ball, the Kilwinning three midfield players were running the show with strength and conviction.

The half time score line tells it’s own story of the first half.

First half goals Kilwinning = 5min, 11min, 25min, 30min, 33min, 42min, 44min
                             PSGFC = 45min

Second half was much better from the PSG.

We ended the first half with a great solo from Emily Mclaughlan who fired a shot passed the Kilwinning keeper.
The goal came at a very good time just before the half ended & it looked to give the girls a little bit of a lift. We tried to look at the positives from the first half and we all agreed that going into the second half more pressure & closing down would have to be the priority, we had stood off the Kilwinning players far too much. The team started showing just what we can do when we play, we started to hold onto the ball string some passes together & if we lost the ball we worked hard to win it back. We started to compete and were giving Kilwinning a game. On the 55th minute Nicole Howie was replaced with Jade McKean (Nicole came off with a dead leg, after a 50/50 challenge).
Jade applied herself very well and worked non stop in the middle of the park.
Jill Stevenson (the goalie) came off injured in the 60th minute after a hefty challenge & what looked to be a serious injury to her right arm. Jill was taken to Hospital and has a chipped bone in her arm (looks to be out for three to four weeks)
