Match Report Saturday 18/04/10

League game V Hamilton Reserves.

With no points on the table yet the girls knew it would be difficult to get anything from this game with it being against top of the table Hamilton.

On Match day it was clear to see the girls were right up for the match. They were fully focused on the job in hand & were keen to get started on arrival at the park.

Right from kick off Paisley showed some very good determination along with some great passing & pressure, we looked to have the upper hand & were first to every ball winning tackles when it counted. Paisley midfield were running the show with some lovely passing moves bringing the wide players in behind the Hamilton back line.

Just rewards came 15 Minutes into play, Emily McLauchlan ran through one on one with the Hamilton Keeper, from a  Nicole Howie defence splitting pass.
Emily  under no pressure placed the ball into the bottom right hand corner.
Hamilton took centre passed the ball out left & there nippy winger got in behind our defence struck a high ball into our goal mouth which with wind assistance went over the top of the Saints keeper. ( 1-1 )

Paisley had to show strength & determination to pull the game back,
They took centre & played some lovely position football & shots on goal.
It was clear to see we were upsetting the Hamilton team, they were all over the place & looked very disjointed, The two Saints wingers were making some great runs & getting shots on target as were the midfield players. On the 37th Minute  Emily had swapped wings with Nicole Goodwin & within 1 Minute she slotted in our second of the half.

HALF TIME : Paisley Saints Girls  2   Hamilton Reserves 1

Start of the second half  we had a good half time team talk & were confident we could go on & pressure the Hamilton keeper more as we did in the first half.

Unfortunately for us  we were in for some very bad luck which was going to change the second half all together .

On the 10 minute of the second half Jill Stevenson ( goal keeper ) had to be replaced by an outfield player due to a strong lunging tackle from the Hamilton
striker, Jill came off with some back pain & heavy brusing around her lower back.
Jill looks to be out of training this week & may miss next weeks game, her back took quite a kick & ( she has the stud marks to go ) .
56th Minute Hamilton equalised .

On the 70th Minute Louise Fagan  who was having a great game, came off the field of play feeling very dizzy & had blurred vision, this left the team with no replacement  & with a player down it put our backs against the wall & we were defending for most of the half. Hamilton with the wind behind them pinned us back with wave after wave of attack pressured our goal, with them sensing it was a stand in keeper they were shooting at every opportunity with high powerful shots. Within 5 minutes of Louise coming off they took the upper hand & scored there 3rd. Ten minutes from time Nicole Thomson went into a tackle just on the half way line , as she fell we knew it was a sore one as she normally jumps straight back up. This time she stayed down & the pain was there to see in her face ,she came off with suspected ligament damage to the right knee area.
This was confirmed after the game when she went to the RAH hospital for check up.

Hamilton slotted another two in before end of play 77th & 90th minutes.
